The war in Ukraine was made possible not only by Russian guns, but by long term control over the information space. Democracy is in global decline. Even in democratic states, some political leaders rely on divisive populism, thereby risking to impede access to public space for marginalized groups. Meanwhile authoritarian states weaponize “traditional values” to limit freedom of expression. What are the counter strategies?
