Oscar Anderson, an activist and agent of change, is among the keynote speakers at the upcoming conference in Lillehammer on June 2-3. He will deliver a speech on inclusion and freedom of expression.
Anderson, who has cerebral palsy caused by hyperbilirubinemia, has been an activist and a strong public voice since his teenage years. He is coming to WEXFO in Lillehammer to discuss what society must do to include all voices.
“Whenever you see someone like me, I encourage you to just go and talk to them. Because I guarantee you all, there’s a treasure chest of knowledge and potential within disabled people. And it’s just begging to be set free,” he wrote in a comment to WEXFO.
Born in Saigon, Vietnam, Oscar Anderson spent the first half of his life living in Asia – Vietnam, Thailand, and China – before returning to the UK in July 2014. After attending mainstream schools, Oscar has undertaken numerous projects to raise awareness for the diagnosis and prompt treatment of neonatal jaundice, principally in Vietnam and Nigeria.
Oscar is an Ambassador for One Young World and an aspiring author. In the Jubilee Honours list, he was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and inaugurated by her grandson Prince William on July 24, 2022. Oscar lives in England.
