The exhibition explores global perspectives on freedom of expression through powerful visual storytelling from artists, activists, and journalists around the world.
World Expression Forum (WEXFO) is proud to present SPEAK, an international art exhibition currently being installed at Bjerkebæk, the historic home of Nobel Prize-winning author Sigrid Undset in Lillehammer. The exhibition opens to the public on June 1st, marking the start of WEXFO 2025.
Developed by Irene Khan, UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression, and curated by the renowned photographer Dr. Shahidul Alam, SPEAK visualizes key insights from her 2021 UN report “Disinformation and Freedom of Opinion and Expression.” The exhibition brings together visual works from across the globe, highlighting both the possibilities and challenges of free expression in the digital age.
In its Lillehammer edition, SPEAK will be expanded with political cartoons by this year’s Fritt Ord Prize winners: May Linn Clement, Marvin Halleraker, and Morten Mørland. Their work adds timely commentary on the role of satire and journalism in public discourse.
The exhibition is presented by World Expression Forum, in collaboration with Lillehammer Museum and Fritt Ord, with generous support from Bergesenstiftelsen. It will remain open to visitors at Bjerkebæk throughout the summer.
