WEXFO Alumni is a global network of former WEXFO project participants dedicated to promoting freedom of expression among young people. This network works as a platform for sharing information, discussing topics related to freedom of expression, asking questions, and connecting.

Our platform is a private listed LinkedIn group. All former WEXFO project participants are more than welcome to join! Those already connected on LinkedIn, we will be able to invite each other to join the group.

WEXFO Alumni Working Group
The alumni network is managed by WEXFO and led by three members who plan digital gatherings throughout the year and an annual meeting during the WEXFO conference in Lillehammer.
Frances An
Frances An graduated with a PhD in psychology from the University Of Western Australia. She promotes freedom of expression through work as a core member of Heterodox Academy East Asia and member of PEN International (Perth chapter). She has written English- and Vietnamese-language articles about democracy, academic freedom, and censorship issues in the Asia-Pacific. Her publications appear in Japan Forward, Spectator Australia, Portside Review, and others.
Kiyya Baloch
Kiyya is a freelance journalist and researcher from Pakistan, currently living in exile in Norway. He has previously reported for both domestic and international media, focusing on security, politics, and human rights issues in Pakistan. Mr. Baloch is a researcher with PEN Norway.
Atta Khaled
“No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.” Atta Khaled is a Palestinian Egyptian. He is passionate about youth-led empowerment and community mobilization. Currently, Atta is pursuing his MS in Global Conflict and Cooperation at the University of Birmingham, where he also volunteers as a student representative at the Guild of Students. He has been working as a Communications Officer at the Social Development Forum, (SDF). He is an advocacy fellow at Danida Fellowship Centre, a community co-lead at the MENA Regional Coalition on Youth, Peace, and Security, and a member of the first Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) representing Palestinian youth and ensuring that young voices are considered in all matters that affect them. Earlier in 2024, Atta was awarded the US State Department’s Community Engagement Exchange program where he worked as a youth engagement and peace fellow at the Rotary Club of Houston SkyLine, Texas, USA.
