Mark Lievisse Adriaanse

Mark Lievisse Adriaanse (1994) is a reporter for Dutch daily newspaper NRC Handelsblad. He was previously a political correspondent. He is the author of the recently published book ‘Wat iedereen aangaat: hoe de democratie wordt afgebroken en hoe we haar vernieuwen’ (What Touches All: How our Democracies are Destroyed and How We Renew Them), in which he argues that the only way to ‘save’ Western democracy, is through a radical democratization of politics, economics, and society. He studied political science and philosophy at Leiden University, Journalism at the University of Amsterdam, and also followed courses in sociology and media studies in Rotterdam and London. In 2021, he and a colleague won two awards for investigative journalism for a longread on how the Dutch government handled the first six months of the covid pandemic.www.marklievisseadriaanse.nl
