Memory Noella Mbewe is a child and youth rights advocate, media practitioner, and communications specialist from Malawi. She serves as Advocacy Manager at Timveni Child and Youth Media Organization, where she designs and leads national campaigns that amplify the voices of children and youth in Malawi, especially girls.With over nine years of experience, Memory has used radio, television, and community dialogue to challenge harmful norms and influence policy. She has produced more than 280 TV/Radio programs addressing issues such as child marriage, teen pregnancy, and gender-based violence.Her advocacy contributed to Malawi’s constitutional amendment outlawing child marriage and the removal of tax on sanitary pads, making them more accessible for girls to stay in school. Memory’s work centers on creating safe platforms for youth to speak freely, engage in decision-making, have access to opportunities and be active participants in development work She mentors young journalists, facilitates youth-led dialogues, and champions Meaningful and inclusive participation in national development.A Mandela Washington Fellowship alumna and member of Plan International Malawi’s Local Advisory Council, Memory has spoken on global stages, including the Oslo Freedom Forum, where she shared Malawi’s journey toward protecting children’s rights and building a hopeful future for girls.
