Elif Shafak was born in France in 1971 to Turkish parents. She moved back to Turkey in her teenage years and now lives in both London and Istanbul with her family. She is Turkey’s most widely read female author and an engaged political commentator and public speaker. Her books have been published in more than 40 countries, and she writes in both Turkish and English.
