Åsmund Reistad (b. 1969) is a Norwegian guitarist and composer who has been a part of the Norwegian folk music scene for thirty years. He has played alongside many of the best-known musicians in the country. Åsmund has focused on reviving Norwegian folk music by combining it with elements from other genres and arranging it in new ways. He has released two solo albums, “89% folkemusikk” in 2021 and “Urban folkemusikk” in April 2024, both records that consists of his own compositions based on traditional Norwegian dances. Despite his deep respect for the folk music tradition, his gentle yet distinct use of elements from other genres shines through.
