Abdallah Abed Alhaleem

Abdullah Alhaleem is an architect and urban designer working at the intersection of public space, freedom of expression, and community engagement. Through his practice and the initiative AANN, he transforms overlooked and underused urban spaces into open forums for dialogue, creativity, and civic life. His signature project, Living Mosaics, creates green, inclusive platforms dedicated to free speech, intergenerational exchange, and youth participation, demonstrating how the built environment can amplify unheard voices. One of Living Mosaics’ flagship interventions transformed an unused rooftop overlooking an ancient Roman theatre in Jordan into an open-air stage and contemporary forum, linking heritage with present-day expression. Abdullah’s work has been developed in collaboration with partners such as UNDP, local incubators, media platforms, and civil society actors, and has been featured on national television and social media. He brings a Middle Eastern perspective on how architecture and placemaking can serve as powerful tools to defend and expand freedom of expression.
