Born and raised in Colombia, Carolina is an international development professional with experience across Latin America, the Caribbean, and East Africa. Through her work with multilateral organizations, government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector, she has witnessed first-hand how unequal access to voice and participation reinforces social, economic and political exclusion.Freedom of expression, in all its dimensions, has been a guiding principle throughout her career. Carolina is deeply committed to expanding the conditions that enable people, particularly women, youth, victims of conflict, farmers, and entrepreneurs, to exercise their agency, express ideas, share knowledge, and meaningfully influence the decisions that shape their lives.She led +Mujeres +Ideas, a national initiative that empowered women entrepreneurs across Colombia by amplifying their voices and visibility in economic and social transformation. She has also contributed to peacebuilding and participatory rural development under Colombia’s Peace Accord, ensuring that community perspectives informed both national and international dialogue.Currently, Carolina supports farmer- and entrepreneur-based organizations in strengthening their sustainability, inclusiveness, and collective voice.
