Ege Dündar

A graduate of International Politics at City University, Ege Dündar worked with PEN International for seven years, recently being elected the youngest board member in its 100 year history. There he supported campaigns for writers at risk, founded the young writers network İlkyaz (Early Spring) rekindling Tomorrow Club and Creative Witnesses, organising artists to stand with those prosecuted. His debut poetry book written in English “All These Things Aren’t Really Lost” was published by BSPG. He was a Sunday columnist at Milliyet Daily and wrote for BirGün, PEN Transmissions, DW B, Bosla Arts and Counterpoints Arts. He supported UNESCO research on artistic freedom and produced a report on the State of Exile Media in Europe, detailing displaced journalists and supporting networks. He was recently awarded an Arts Council grant to develop his creative practice. Ege also co-authored the fable Duvar (The Wall) with his dad, Can Dündar, a journalist unjustly jailed in Turkey. He was released with a Supreme Court decision before facing an assassination attempt and following illegal confiscations of assets and passports, the family were eventually forced to leave the country.
