Tyler Tone is Legislative Analyst, Technology and Free Expression at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to defending the rights of all Americans to free speech and free thought. He has spent several years advocating for free expression, civil liberties, and principled civil discourse. While completing his undergraduate studies at the University of South Florida, Tyler worked at both the campus and state level to advocate for and develop policies protecting students’ constitutional rights. He served on the Academic Advisory Council of Florida House Democratic Leader Fentrice Driskell and the Youth Council of the Florida Democratic Party. At FIRE, Tyler focuses on applying First Amendment principles to emerging technologies. He coordinates FIRE’s Tech Policy Working Group and writes about developments at free speech’s frontier, including areas like artificial intelligence and social media. He holds a B.A. in Economics and History from the University of South Florida.
